Baseball season is coming!

A Bostonian for his adult life, Edward E O’Sullivan has built or acquired a number of businesses from consulting to health care technology to outdoor advertising.

One of life’s pleasures for Edward E O’Sullivan, president of Capital Associates, Incorporated is to watch a fine baseball game. Baseball has provided much excitement and pleasure to millions of people around the world from the very young to the very old.

Whether you are watching a Little League or Youth Baseball game or a slugfest at the Major League level, you cannot beat an afternoon of watching baseball. Indoor baseball or baseball played under a dome guarantees the spectators a dry and climate controlled extravaganza. But, there is something about being in the outdoor, natural elements. A cold, wintry day in early April or late September in the north or a hot, sunny day in the middle of July will give the fan the same game, the same rules, the same concessions but unique nine inning format as no two games in the history of baseball are exactly alike. On opening day, O’Sullivan and friends can be found at Fenway Park rain or shine.

It is that uncertainty of what will happen next, what the next play will be, how the next situation will play out, that gives baseball its unique story lines. Ed O’Sullivan has been attending baseball games for as long as he can remember. O’Sullivan played baseball through high school and in leagues through college. O’Sullivan still enjoys anticipating how a play will unfold and what will the ramifications of it be.

If you have not had the pleasure of following baseball, like O’Sullivan has, it is not too late. A new season is right ahead beginning in late February in spring training and ending in early November with the World Series.

Spend a day or a night, bring a friend or a family member, find a batting cage and take some swings, enjoy the game as much as Ed O’Sullivan does.

Beyond his legal skills, Edward E. O’Sullivan is a staunch supporter of charities such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation thrives on one mission: to make life better for children with life-threatening conditions by granting their wishes. While the premise is simple and the means seemingly temporary, each wish granted to a child goes beyond the momentary happiness it brings.

A 2011 Wish Impact study found that granting a wish improves the health status of children, with the parents noticing a marked increase in the children’s energy levels and improvement in compliance with medical regimens. Even an overwhelming number of health care professionals are convinced the wishes can improve children’s physical health. A wish can also enhance the child’s state of mind, with a noticeable decrease in manifested fear and solitary behaviors and increased happiness and self-confidence. Overall, wishes can help improve the quality of children’s lives despite the threat of a serious medical condition.

O’Sullivan also serves as the president of Capital Associates, Inc., a business development and government relations firm. Outside of his professional activities, Edward E. O’Sullivan stresses the importance of preparing for storms during hurricane season.

For individuals living in rental apartments, there are a number of ways to prepare for the hurricane season. First, put together an emergency kit and place it in an easily accessible location. The emergency kit should include basic items such as flashlights with batteries, a radio, a first aid kit, and enough food and water for three days. If you are trapped in your apartment during a hurricane, the emergency kit will be an invaluable tool for keeping you and your loved ones safe.

From a financial standpoint, renter’s insurance and flood insurance are popular choices for many apartment building residents. If your belongings suffer damage from a natural disaster, insurance plans will often cover the cost of replacement.

Edward E. O’Sullivan serves as the managing director and chief executive officer of Cove Outdoor, an out of home billboard development and management company. An animal lover, Edward E. O’Sullivan is especially fond of Maltese dogs.

The Maltese is an ancient dog breed, dating back approximately 3,000 years. The Greeks built tombs for them and they were popular pets for royalty. AKC registered in 1878, following their first Westminster Kennel Club show in America, they have remained popular stateside since.

One element of the breed’s popularity is their appearance; a toy breed, Maltese are covered with long, generally all-white hair and have a plumed tail that arches over their backs. With a smooth gait and floor-length hair, they may appear to float as they move.

Despite their small stature, Maltese are energetic and unafraid of larger dogs, giving them an air of self-assurance. An intelligent breed, they make good watchdogs. They are not, however, recommended for families with younger children.

Overall, Maltese are well suited to city life. They enjoy playing indoors, but also love a 20- to 30-minute daily walk. Some are even known to prefer small yards or parks to large, open areas.

Maltese usually live about 12–14 years, although some have lasted to age 18. Tooth decay and joint problems are common as they age, but regular veterinarian checkups can identify and treat these issues early.

Edward E. O’Sullivan, a board member of the nonprofit Best Buddies of Massachusetts, LLC, is the founder of the veteran housing and services nonprofit Above the Line. In his free time, Edward E. O’Sullivan enjoys raising and training his Maltese.

The Maltese is a gentle yet energetic small-dog breed with a history extending back nearly 3,000 years. Despite their diminutive stature, with larger individuals rarely weighing more than seven pounds, the Maltese is often described as fearless in nature, and the breed enjoys competing in dog sports like agility and tracking.

Above all else, the Maltese is a companion animal. Maltese make for effective service dogs and generally love nothing more than to spend time in a human’s lap. The breed interacts well with children, as well as other dogs, and is one of the top choices for dog owners living in small spaces.

While the Maltese is perfectly suitable for a first-time dog owner, the breed’s temperament comes with some caveats. Maltese often suffer from separation anxiety and can be wary of meeting new people. They are also poorly suited to colder climates, an issue that can be complicated by their need for daily exercise.
